Staff Spotlight: KAYLIN THOMPSON
Kaylin is currently accepting new clients at our Oak Brook location or via Telehealth. Call our office at 630-560-1100 to schedule an appointment.
Here is a short Q&A with Kaylin:
Q: What are your specialties and why did you choose them?
Kaylin: My specialties are working with survivors of trauma, depression/anxiety, and body image issues/disordered eating. I desired to work closely with these areas due to many of my loved ones’ personal battles with them, along with a hope to bring healing to the suffering that can come as a result from these mental health concerns.
Q: What therapeutic approaches do you use?
Kaylin: I utilize acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), existential therapy, and psychodynamic theories. I enjoy using a mix of theoretical approaches in order to best meet clients’ needs as all clients are unique in their perspectives, beliefs, and development. With these approaches, I maintain trauma-informed care that ensures awareness and understanding of the impact of trauma on an individual.
Q: What inspired you to become a therapist?
Kaylin: My Christian faith is one of the biggest aspects of being led to pursue the mental health field. I felt a calling to sit with and provide hope to people who feel like they have none.
Q: What do you enjoy doing most outside of work?
Kaylin: When I am not at work, I am often traveling or exploring new places. I love to be outside, spend time with people, and try new things. I also enjoy reading, watching a good movie, and painting.
