Here is a short Q&A with Nicole:

Q: What are your specialties and why did you choose them?

Nicole: I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and adults on a variety of issues including life transitions and stressors, building healthy communication, anxiety, depression, relationships issues, domestic violence, social skills, self-esteem, pregnancy after loss, miscarriage, fertility struggles, postpartum issues.

Q: What therapeutic approaches do you use?

Nicole: I utilize a person-centered approach paired with cognitive behavioral therapy as well as mindfulness in treating the whole person. I recognize and embrace that each individual is unique and work to tailor the treatment approach to best suit each person’s needs. I strive to create a calm and welcoming space where children, adolescents and adults can find more positive ways to respond to events in their daily lives.

Q: What inspired you to become a therapist?

Nicole: I was inspired to become a therapist when I realized that I was the person in my friend group from whom others usually sought out support and counsel. I enjoyed being able to listen, understand and empathize and have the ability to offer positivity and hope. I believe the power of the counseling relationship holds so many benefits including a positive, open, empathic and non-judgmental, skill building environment.

Q: What is the most rewarding part of being a therapist?

Nicole: The most rewarding part of being a therapist is being able to see progress and movement that a client is experiencing not only in session, but in their daily lives. It is a wonderful feeling when a client is able to have improved self confidence and recognize that their efforts for change were successful.

Q: What do you enjoy doing most outside of work?

Nicole: Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my husband and my two young children as well as my extended family. I love to travel, play board games, watch shows/movies, see musicals and plays, listen to music, go bowling, and catch up on reading a good book and do yoga or Pilates.
