INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING

Individual counseling involves meeting face-to-face with a therapist to work on goals and gain insight into behaviors, feelings, beliefs, and relationships. Many people find that the calm and constructive environment in therapy allows individuals to do their very best thinking about how to improve overall wellness and relationships.

When individual counseling begins, your therapist will help you identify specific goals and create a plan of action for change. Our clients typically meet with therapists on a weekly basis. Depending on your needs and goals, you may choose to meet with a therapist multiple times per week.

HERE ARE COMMON QUESTIONS THAT BRING PEOPLE TO INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING.

How do I reduce the amount worry or stress in my life?

How do I successfully cope with life’s challenges?

How do I gain self-confidence to pursue my goals and make decisions?

How do I reduce the amount of conflict in my relationships?

What can I do when I feel stuck in sadness, fear, or anger?

How do I deal with unexpected tragedy, illness, or loss?

AGES OF CLIENTS

Children (5 to 12)

Our counselors understand that children may struggle to describe their emotions or thoughts about life’s challenges. By constructing a friendly and creative space, our counselors use age-appropriate techniques to help your child explore their emotions, gain confidence both at school and home, and master developmental tasks.

Adolescents/Teenagers (13 to 19)

Sometimes teens need a supportive space to think and talk about big changes and challenges in life. Our counselors work with teens as co-collaborators to help them identity needs, work toward goals, and communicate effectively with others.

Adults

Adults frequently come to counseling for support and guidance for life’s challenges. Growth is possible at any age, and our counselors can help adults learn and practice effective strategies for managing stress, improving relationships, and making important life decisions.
